By Terry Stewart
How does it feel
when you first try crack
no fears of addiction
just some spent greenbacks?
How does it feel
when you sneak ‘round about,
do you ever fear that
you might get found out?
How does it feel
as the master manipulator
when you can lie at will
and make them an enabler?
How does it feel
to be caught in your lies
are you ashamed, do you run,
or do you just go get high?
How does it feel
when you lose all your money
when you lose your last job
when you lose your best honey?
How does it feel
when you’re out on the street
are you clean, are you hungry
or does crack veil it’s deceit?
How does it feel
to take advantage of your friends
when you steal from your house
do you care how it ends?
How does it feel
when arrested the first time
is this your wakeup call
or did you not do the crime?
How does it feel
when you are back on the street
and you finally realize that
crack has you beat?
How does it feel
when you don’t care anymore
when you can do what you want
when you rob your first store?
How does it feel
when you get arrested for real
when you face 5 - 10
unless you appeal?
How does it feel
when you need those your hurt
to bankrupt their finances
while you lie and subvert?
How does it feel
to be left there alone
no visits, no money
you can’t even phone home?
How does it feel
to be free of crack…
or don’t you know that?
